2D Images are Liars! When Not to Trust Them
2D Images are Liars! When Not to Trust Them
There has been a lively debate in the literature on which imaging methods should be included in treatment planning. Panoramic and periapical radiography were the pillars of maxillofacial diagnosis. With the advent of Cone Beam CT, dental practice has witnessed a paradigm shift. This presentation will highlight applications of CBCT along with limitations of conventional radiographic modalities. The implication is not that 3-D images are required for all patients, but rather that there are cases where two-dimensions are simply insufficient, and the additional third dimension becomes the only means of providing an accurate diagnosis.
